Bankarium –Slovenian Banking Museum
Mestna hranilnica building by architect Josip Vancaš first opened in 1905. The first floor is now home to Bankarium, Slovenian Banking Museum, supported by NLB and displaying a 200-year overview of banking history, money and financial institutions.
TRIIIJE led the full restoration of the historic building and designed all the elements of the museum in very distinctive color palette that blends the historic references with museum identity.
In the museum we can peer into the background of bank counters in Vienna Secession Style from the beginning of the 20th century, the time of socialism and the present day.
It features bank heritage from 1820 until today.
We can enter a recently-retired bank vault, see safe deposit boxes and the workings of an ATM, and travel into the virtual reality world of banking’s digital transformation.
